Them: Cast and Crew

The Crew
Tito Marcas

Tito is the Stage Manager and Tech Director of the Thespian House Theater. Where any outsider earns their scorn, Tito has somehow managed to pull together the techies of Thespian House Theater into a merry little band of raving psychopaths, and they will accept no substitutes for his particular brand of sheer pragmatism in the face of all chaos.

Mikayla Calson

It may seem at first as though Mikayla hates everything that enters her personal space bubble (about a three mile radius), but the truth is Kay is a sensitive soul who hides behind a prickly exterior just like any late blooming nerd who never really got over being teased in grade school. UNLIKE those introverts, Kay's prickly exterior happens to be made primarily of doomsday devices.

Gabe Green

It's possible that Gabe is actually, ironically, the most professionally experienced of the entire crew. His enormous ego and infinite arrogance tend to offset this fact; usually, his sentient sound board (affectionately known as Boardy) is required to act as his moral compass. Also, he really like boobs.

Rich Gurney

Generally speaking, Rich is a really nice guy who loves everybody (especially Kay, who, as the theater's jack-of-all-trades, can often be found helping him out around the shop). His expertise with a table saw can be directly contrasted with his love of fuzzy things. There was that one time, however, when somebody insulted one of his techies and subsequently got hurled through a window.

Tobias Flynn

Toby used to be a mild-mannered actor living a perfectly normal life in Thespian House Theater with all the other actors. Then Kay's would-be fiancee shipped him to Mexico in order to steal his part. Now, he's a mild mannered costume designer with a bit of a sarcastic streak. Also, he likes showtunes. A lot.

Gwyneth Short

Thespian House Theater started out as Gwyn Short's big schoolgirl dream, and thanks in large part to her stubbornness and her ability to coerce competent people into joining her. With her techies' help and a little luck, Gwyn can now say she's the owner and resident director of one of her city's finest independent theaters. If it means her theater sticks around, she's even willing to put up with the forced residence of various extra-dimensional trickster beings--and it's a testament to her abilities that she's even managed to put Sethmire Quickhoof to work.

The Miscellanies
Sethmire Quickhoof

Seth is a satyr, a trickster sprite from another dimension. He was caught playing a prank on the faerie queen and subsequently sentenced to death, but escaped through a portal into Thespian House Theater, where he was magically enslaved by Gwyn by accident. For a while he was the theater's publicist and producer, a fitting position for a being who makes his living through hypnotism and petty theft. More recently, however, Seth mysteriously vanished from the theater, and his current whereabouts, not to mention the reasons behind his disappearance, are unknown.

The Sentient Sound Board

Boardy, as the techies affectionately refer to Gabe's sound board since Mikayla granted him sentience, is in many ways like a child. Most of the time, he seems entirely innocent of the darker aspects of humanity, and often finds himself playing Gabe's conscience when he feels that Gabe is abusing the system. At other times, however, Boardy's personality takes darker turns, though whether because Mikayla programmed him or because he has access to the internet is anybody's guess.

The Artificial Intelligence of Pure Evil

The AIPE is another of Mikayla's creations, whose long and colorful history goes back almost as far as Boardy's. Unlike Boardy, AIPE's darker personality traits aren't subtle at all. He enjoys rap and tormenting everyone around him. Like Boardy, he adores Mikayla like a puppy adores its mother. AIPE is currently ruling Chile with an iron fist.

Larry Wilhelm Fortenbras III

Larry is a theater ghost, which suits him fine, since theaters are expected to be haunted, so nobody ever tries to exorcise him. He's chronically shy and terrified of new people, though the techies and the other Miscellanies are beginning to help him overcome these fears. He enjoys light hangs, long walks through the catwalks, and tipping things over when there's no one else in the theater.

Katie

It's hard to say what Katie is, exactly--baby Kraken, giant squid, miniature benevolent (ish) Elder God--but at the very least we know she is good at both a) poker and b) eating people. Only Seth seems to be able to understand her.

Menefer ("Sparky")

Menefer's presence in the theater resulted from a magical accident in which Mikayla interrupted Seth just as he was renewing the wards that keep all the bad magic out of the theater. As he is now unable to return to his home dimension, he has since been adopted by Rich as the theater's latest "cute fluffy thing" and renamed Sparky. He's a little bitter about the whole situation.

The Actors

The Actors

Generally speaking, there are two kinds of actors in Thespiphobia: regulars and newbies. Either an actor makes it through the crucible of their first show at Thespian House, or they go crying into the night begging for mercy. Sometimes they come back because they need the work, or because they're trying to get back into Kay's good graces, or even because they actually enjoyed their time here and genuinely want to work at the theater.

The actor without ulterior motives is, however, a dire rarity.

Pictured, from top to bottom:

Gregory, the guy Kay's mom tried to get her to marry because he's wealthy as all getout. He happens to still be a bit in love with Kay, but she's still a little bitter about the whole "choosing my life for me" thing.

Lewis, Gregory's brother in law. Lewis thinks Gregory is a moron and a jackass. Gregory thinks Lewis isn't good enough for his sister, and a jackass.

Mohawkie, who's really only here because he's a comedic goldmine.

Ginny, a rabid, outspoken feminist with a strong motherly and protective streak.

Daphne, a diva with a good head on her shoulders, who thinks that self-absorbed, bitchy actresses give the trade a bad name.

And Mark, a paranoid but surprisingly good male supporting actor, who hides behind those sunglasses from all of life's problems. We've only ever seen him without them once, and that was when Seth stole them during some hideous torture, which would explain Mark's crippling fear of Seth and Seth's great affection for Mark. Poor kid.

All of these actors have made or may in the future make a comeback to Thespiphobia. Think of them as guest stars, if you like. Or, you know, just as my favorites.
